In today’s economic environment, the financial crunch has not limited itself to only American families. Colleges and universities across the country are experiencing first hand this financial meltdown that hits them square in their budgets.
Costs are rising, state budgets are being trimmed, endowment funds are dwindling, alumni contributions for many institutions are non-existent and with the current spend-til-you-drop government mindset, increased taxes are coming to a wallet near you soon.
Amidst all of this, college applicaitons are on the rise creating a unique set of challenges that must be confronted. When shrinking financial resources collide with pressures to address the financial needs of enrolled students as well as admitting the freshman class, a cash-strapped college or university may decide they only have one more trick up their sleeve- change the game entirely.
Accordingly, these institutions may revise their policies and procedures as they struggle to meet budget, academic, and enrollment goals.
